Make this Chocolate Treat for Valentines Day....or Any Day
Anyone who wants to give his or her sweetheart a little something special and chocolate-y for the holiday can prepare this recipe (passed along by Vickie A in NYC) in a heart-themed mug...such as this tulip and hearts one sold by specialty home goods retailer Crate and Barrel.
Because everything mixes in the one mug, and then cooks in it too, this is likely to be the simplest cake recipe ever made. Chocolate cake in a mug even bakes in a microwave oven, making it all the more fast fun and easy. In truth, the individual size cake cooks in a microwave, as such ovens do not really bake.
Just a few Basic Ingredients are Required for the Mug Cake
- 4 tablespoons of regular white flour
- 4 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of powdered cocoa mix
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons of milk (whole milk works best)
- 3 tablespoons of corn or other vegetable oil
- a dash of cinnamon
Next, Mix and "Bake" the Cake in a Microwave
- Measure all above ingredients into the mug (be sure to choose a mug that is microwave safe.)
- Stir well (about 75 strokes) with a fork, until all ingredients are well blended, and the mixture looks like cake batter.
- Remove fork and place the filled mug inside a microwave oven.
- Set oven timer for 4 minutes 15 seconds, and then microwave at full power.
- Let mug cake cool inside oven for at least 1 minute after stopping, then remove and enjoy this rich, sweet, mini chocolate cake
